1Before the game

  • Open eggbeater.app on the game-desk laptop or tablet.
  • Open the Scores tab and tap Login to Score.
  • Pick Tournament / League when the “What are you scoring?” screen appears (both options broadcast live; My Club sends a separate club feed).
  • Enter the scoring password the tournament director gave you, then tap Continue.
Tip: Your choice is remembered — the session stays unlocked even if you reload the browser. You only need the password once per shift, per device.

2The board opens ready

  • No game to pick. The board opens straight onto the live game for this event.
  • Seeded automatically. The current period and clock are pulled from the live game.
  • Teams & caps are set. Both teams appear on the correct sides with the correct cap color (white / dark) — no manual confirm.

6Recording — the flow

  • Tap the action button for the team that did it (buttons are labelled with each team’s actual name).
  • A guided prompt appears showing that team’s roster.
  • Tap the player who made the play. For a Goal you can then add a tag (Backhand, 6-on-5, Counter) and an assist; an exclusion asks what kind.
  • The prompt closes and the event records & broadcasts instantly.
Always pick a player. The play log and the public box score only count plays attributed to a player. If you don’t know the cap, tap Unknown / no cap — but try the bench first.

7Action buttons + in-prompt modifiers

Actions are grouped our team (teal) and opponent (orange). Tap the button that matches whichever team did it.

Tracking exclusions vs earned exclusions

An exclusion involves two players — the one kicked out, and the opponent who drew the foul. Use Excl for your own player and Opp Excl for the opponent.
Example — your #5 fouls the opponent in front of the cage (ref excludes your #5; the opponent earns the call):
1Tap Excl → pick your #5 → choose Kickout (20-sec, counts toward ejection), Common Foul (doesn’t count), or Brutality (ejects immediately).
2To credit the player who drew it: tap Opp ExclEarned → pick who earned it.
Two taps, two records. The public box score shows Excl and Earned Excl as separate stats per player.

8Fixing mistakes

Quick undo
Tap Undo last above the action grid to remove the most recent event. Use it when you tap the wrong button or player and notice immediately.
Specific delete
Scroll the Play Log at the bottom of the board. Each event has a × button — tap it to remove that specific event without affecting newer ones.

When a goal is undone or deleted, the score reduces automatically and the change broadcasts to spectators within 5 seconds.

9Ending the game

  • Tap the red End Game button.
  • Confirm to end. The prompt shows the final score (e.g. Home 3–2 Away) and warns that this stops live scoring and can’t be undone. By default that’s the whole prompt — just confirm.
  • If sign-off is enabled, the referee signs off. When the tournament admin turns on referee sign-off (off by default; Tournament / League feed only — never My Club), the prompt adds a required ✍️ Game referee sign-off field. Enter the referee’s name to finalize.
  • Tap End game. The final publishes and the game moves to History automatically. With sign-off on, it shows ✓ Signed off by [referee].
Final · published to History (✓ signed off when enabled)
Before you end the game: double-check the score against the referee’s count and use Undo last or the Play Log to fix any stray events. Once you tap End game (and enter the referee’s name, if sign-off is enabled) the score is final, so end the game only after the last whistle.

Quick key

White capsThe LEFT side of the scoreboard. Maps to “team1” internally.
Dark capsThe RIGHT side of the scoreboard. Maps to “team2” internally.
Live to fansIndicator at the top of the board confirming the score is broadcasting. Spectators are watching; the score updates instantly with every tap.
FINALShown once you tap End Game (and, if the admin enabled referee sign-off, the referee enters their name). The game is published to History — as ✓ Signed off by [referee] when sign-off is on.
Excl vs Earned ExclTwo separate stats. Excl = your player kicked out (Excl button). Earned Excl = opponent who drew the foul (Opp Excl → Earned). See Section 7.
Kickout vs BrutalityKickout = 20-sec; 3 kickouts eject a player (shown BENCHED). Brutality ejects immediately. Common Foul is a free throw and doesn’t count.
If you forgot the capTap “Unknown / no cap” in the prompt. Better to ask the bench though — anonymous events don’t show in player box scores.
Lost connection?Keep scoring — events queue locally and sync to the public page when the connection returns. Don’t refresh the browser mid-game.
