The challenge

Two brackets, two pools, three days, one league sheet.

Girls’ and boys’ brackets shared Tuesday’s first round and Thursday’s semifinals between Encinal and San Leandro, with every final at Encinal on Saturday. The league kept its bracket in a shared sheet, updated after each game.

What we did

The league’s sheet, read every minute.

Eggbeater read the league’s published bracket into one public page, again every minute, so a score the league typed showed up within a couple of minutes. Alameda and Encinal scored their own games on Eggbeater, live on their pages about five seconds behind the table.

The result

Finals day, ahead of the sheet.

On Saturday the sheet lagged the pool, so the girls’ final and placement scores came from the scorer’s table and held the page until the league typed them. Alameda won both titles over Berkeley: girls 16 to 4, boys 19 to 7.
