Chat rules, reporting and blocking

The chat rules you agree to once, the filter that stops a message, and how to report a message, block a person and unblock them.

Works on: iPhone and iPad (the Family tab), Android and the web app (your initials, at the top of the screen)

Before your first message, Eggbeater shows the Chat rules once. Tap Got it to agree, and your message sends. To read them again, open Chat rules from the team's ⋯ menu or a conversation's bell (on Android and the web, at the end of the Team chat section).

The chat rules

  • Be respectful. The chat is for the team, its coaches and its families.
  • No harassment, hate, sexual content or threats. Messages with slurs or explicit language are not sent.
  • The club admin can read and moderate everything, including edited and deleted messages.
  • If something is wrong, report the message or block the person. Reports go to the club admin.
  • Team chat follows SafeSport: coaches and players talk only with a monitor parent in the room, and an adult never messages a minor one-on-one.

If a message is not sentA message with language that is not allowed is not sent. You see: Please rephrase: this message has language that isn't allowed in team chat. Your message was not sent. Your words stay in the box, so you can change them and send again.

Report a message

  1. Press and hold the message (on Android and the web, tap it).
  2. Tap Report.
  3. Add what's wrong if you like (What's wrong? (optional)), then tap Report. The club admin sees every report.

Block someone

  1. Press and hold one of their messages (on Android and the web, tap it).
  2. Tap Block [name], then Block to confirm.

Unblock someone

  1. On iPhone and iPad, open the team's ⋯ menu in the Family tab, or the bell in a conversation, and tap Blocked people. On Android and the web, Blocked people is at the end of the Team chat section in your family hub.
  2. Tap Unblock next to the person. Their messages come back.

What blocking does

  • Blocking is personal: you stop seeing that person's messages and getting their notifications in every team chat and thread. Nobody else's chat changes, and they are not told.
  • Blocking also sends a report to the club admin.
  • Blocking changes only what you see. A coach or monitor parent you block still counts as the adult in the room for team chat's SafeSport rule.

If someone is in danger, call 911 first. Then tell your club admin.
