Eggbeater is live on the App Store.

The water polo app for spectators, coaches, and tournament hosts is now available on the US and Canada App Store. Live scoring, brackets, lock-screen Live Activities, and branded tournament pages — for everyone who actually runs the desks.

After months of pool-deck testing, a real production tournament weekend in Québec City, and one Apple Review cycle — Eggbeater is now available as a native app on iOS. iPhone, iPad, and Apple Watch. Spectators still don’t need to download anything to follow live scores from a browser. The native app adds Live Activities, widgets, push notifications, and the on-deck scoring experience tournament hosts have been asking for.

Want early access to new features? Join the Eggbeater TestFlight — you’ll get every build a week before it ships to the App Store, and you can leave feedback that goes straight to the developer.

On Android? Android is in closed beta during launch month — same app, same build as iOS, just not yet on the public Play Store. Opt into the Android beta to get it now. Google Play public release follows.

What ships in v1.0

The native shell wraps the same spectator experience that’s been live on the web at app.eggbeater.app for months — but adds the platform integrations only a native app can do:

Lock-screen Live Activities (iOS)

Follow a game by tapping Follow Live. The score updates on your iPhone lock screen + Dynamic Island in under 5 seconds, with quarter and clock visible at a glance. Deep dive →

Apple Watch companion

Smart Stack chip with the live score. Haptic on goal. Glance at your wrist between sets instead of pulling out your phone. Apple Watch guide →

Home-screen widgets

Score, Schedule, and Stats widgets on iOS. Pin your kid’s team and see their next game without opening the app.

Push notifications

Week-aware messages — "Week 3 · vs Stingrays at 10:00 AM · Pool 2" — instead of generic "upcoming game" copy. Tournament-day reminders. End-of-game box scores.

Why this matters now

The web spectator app already covered the basics: open a URL, see a live score. What it couldn’t do was sit in your pocket and update you when you weren’t looking. That’s why Apple built Live Activities. The native iOS app brings them to water polo, where peeking-at-your-phone-between-quarters is the default spectator behavior.

For tournament hosts, the native app also unlocks the tournament hosting workflow with proper iPad scoring — table volunteers tap goals, exclusions, saves, and the score broadcasts everywhere in under 5 seconds. Trilingual (English / French / Spanish) game-desk guide is built into the scorer.

What we learned from La Classique des Hydres

Before launching publicly, Eggbeater spent a real tournament weekend at La Classique des Hydres in Québec City. Multiple clubs, multiple age groups, multiple pools running concurrently. Every game tracked through the scorer, every box score archived, the rebracketing handled in real time after pool play.

The full numbers, the spectator-app screenshots from that weekend, and the workflow detail are in the case study. The short version: it worked. Every game broadcast in under 5 seconds. Branded public pages refreshed on hundreds of family phones at once. No table-desk-vs-scorebook disputes the entire weekend.

Pricing stays the same

Nothing about pricing changes with native launch:

  • Free for spectators — open the public tournament URL, see live scores. Follow your kid’s team. No account required.
  • Premium Spectator: $4.99 / month — Live Activities, Apple Watch, widgets, push notifications. Optional.
  • Club: $25 / month (or $199 / year) — admin panel for managing roster, schedule and live scoring across all your teams.
  • Tournament Host: $199 / event — branded public tournament page, bracket auto-generation, host dashboard, referee sign-off.
  • League Hosting: $99 – $249 / season — auto-scheduled round-robin / Swiss / multi-club leagues with standings + tiebreaker chain.

Full details at eggbeater.app/pricing. No per-seat fees, no per-spectator fees, no hidden upgrades.

What’s next

This launch is v1.0 — the App Store version. Available in the United States and Canada App Store starting today. More regions follow once we’ve confirmed the launch is stable.

Android remains in closed beta during the launch month. The Android app is functionally complete; we’re holding the public Play Store release while we verify the iOS launch goes smoothly. If you’re on Android and want to use Eggbeater now, opt into the Android beta — we’ll let you know when it goes public.

The v1.1 update is already in development: more lazy-loading polish, performance work, and the next round of operator features. Want to see what’s coming a week before everyone else? Join the TestFlight.

If you’re a coach, club admin, or tournament host who wants to use Eggbeater for an upcoming weekend, the fastest path is the tournament platform page + 5 minutes of setup. If you have questions, hello@eggbeater.app reaches Sarah directly.
