The stories the ladders don’t tell

Computed straight from the 351 decided games: the roads the champions took, the finals that came down to a goal, how the goals and the margins fell, the shootouts, and the close ones.

The roads to the titles

All 9 champions never lost a game.

A champion plays 4 to 5 games from the first pool game to the final. Nobody beat a champion all weekend. The tightest road was Foothill Red's in 18U Boys: 2 of its 4 games were decided by a goal or a shootout.

Every placement

Where everyone finished, division by division. Elsewhere the places are the ones the sheet’s placement games settle: the winner of the game labeled 1st is first, its loser second, and so on down; a run of places a round robin settles is ranked by record in that group, and says so.

About the Cal Cup State Finals

The California Cup Club League is a club water polo league founded by CHAWP, with a South league in Southern California, qualifiers in Northern California, and a State Finals every April for the top nine teams from the South and the top seven from the North in each age group.

In 2026 the 10U Coed, 12U and 14U divisions played April 11–12 in Orange County, hosted by SoCal WPF, and the 16U and 18U divisions April 18–19 in the Inland Empire, hosted by CHAWP. Each division opens with pools, then plays through placement pools and a final labeled 1st.

The California Cup League publishes each division's schedule and results as a Google Sheet linked from cacup.com. Eggbeater read those nine workbooks after the finals and kept every game here; the league did not run the event on Eggbeater, and it was not in the app.

Fine print

  • Read from the league's nine State Finals workbooks taken 2026-10-11 (the organizer’s sheet as last read on October 11, 2026): 352 schedule rows in 9 divisions, 351 with a score. One row has no published score and decides nothing here. The sheet’s cells are read, never re-derived: a feeder cell (“W#131”, “winner of game 14”) is read back to the team the game produced; the sheet’s own spellings stay.
  • Scores: a decimal on the sheet is a shootout, the whole part the regulation score and the fraction the tally, so 9.3 against 9.2 is a 9–9 game won 3–2 in the shootout. A shootout counts as a tie in the margins, not a one-goal game. 14 games read that way.
  • Clubs: a squad rolls up to its club by dropping trailing squad letters, numbers, colors and Boys/Girls from its name, so Newport Beach Blue and Newport Beach White are one club; a sheet that spells a club two ways counts it twice.
  • Each workbook writes a side with its seed (G1 - SD Shores Black, WIN #2 - Stanford, J1(1stA) - SBWPC A); the seed and the name are read apart, so a team's games stay together from pool play to the final. Clock times carry no AM or PM on the sheets: 7 to 11 is the morning, 12 to 6 the afternoon.
  • Groups of three play a round robin; groups of four are played as a bracket (two semifinals, then 1st/2nd and 3rd/4th games) and are listed, not tabled. Placement pools (J, K, L and so on, with their place ranges) are tabled where they were round robins.
  • A 0–0 row in the 16U Boys workbook is a game nobody scored and is read as a game with no score entered. Spellings joined up: Commeece and Sbpwc A (12U Girls), Sumpreme (18U Boys), Rose Bowl Balck and Commerce Girls for Commerce Coed (10U Coed), SOCAL for SOCAL Black (16U Girls).
  • Played Saturday, April 11 to Sunday, April 19, 4 days of games.
  • Not affiliated with California Cup Water Polo League. Spot something wrong? The organizer’s published results always win. Tell us and we’ll fix this page.

On Eggbeater

A page like this for every tournament a league runs.

Eggbeater reads a league’s own schedule sheets and turns them into live scores, standings and a record like this one, with nothing for the coordinators to change. Spectators get every game, pool and score on their phones.
