One-Page Scorer Guide

Live Scoring, without the extra noise

Use this guide for coaches, team managers, and designated scorers. The goal is simple: enter the right game, keep the score accurate, record the key events, and close the game cleanly.

What Eggbeater is for

  • Spectators do not need to sign in. They can open the app and follow schedule, scores, history, roster, and tournament updates.
  • Only the scorer uses scorer mode. The scorer password unlocks live scoring controls for the assigned game.
  • Keep the score right first. If anything gets hectic, accurate score and game state matter more than perfect stat detail.
1

Before the game

Open the app, go to Scores, and unlock scorer mode.

  • Tap Login to Score
  • Enter the scorer password
  • Tap Open Scorer on the correct game
  • Confirm opponent, time, and cap color
  • Confirm roster/player names look right
2

During the game

Use the live controls to track the game as it happens. Every tap is captured at the player level for both teams.

  • Tap Sprint Won when each period begins
  • Record goals (with 6-on-5 or Counter modifier when relevant), assists, steals (with Forced Ball Under), turnovers, blocks, and 5m attempts
  • For exclusions, the picker offers 🚩 Kickout (counts toward 3-strike disqualification) or Common Penalty (does not count). Tick ✓ Earned if the player drew the foul rather than received it
  • Use Pause Clock or the iPhone volume button if you need to stop the clock quickly
  • 🕐 Clock OFF mode: If the clock adds pressure (casual / parent scorers), tap the 🕐 Clock: ON pill in the scorer header to flip OFF. Auto-clock + sprint/break/reset/timeout buttons disappear. Period bar (Q1–Q4) and all action buttons stay. Events still record by quarter and broadcast in real time. Per-device — once flipped, it sticks for every game until you flip back.
  • Use the inline play-by-play under scorer controls to confirm each action recorded
  • If unsure, keep the score accurate first — stat detail can be filled in after
3

After the game

Close the game cleanly so spectators see the correct final result.

  • Set the game state to Final
  • Confirm the final score
  • Select the correct result
  • Share/send the box score if needed
  • Lock scorer mode when finished

🚩 Exclusions & Player Ineligibility

Per FINA, a player with 3 personal kickouts is out for the rest of the game. The scorer enforces this automatically:

  • Kickout in the Excl picker counts toward the 3-strike rule. Common Penalty does NOT.
  • At 2 kickouts, the picker shows the player with an amber ⚠ 2 KO warning.
  • On the 3rd kickout, a red banner pops up: "Player Ineligible — Bench Now." The player must be benched for the rest of the game.
  • The picker will then show that player as BENCHED (red, strikethrough) so no one accidentally credits them with anything from the bench.
  • Earned exclusions (where the player drew the foul rather than received it) are tracked separately as their own stat — they do NOT count toward the 3-strike rule.
  • The BENCHED state broadcasts to every spectator's box score in real time, so parents see who has been disqualified.

Best Practices

  • Score one game only. Make sure you are in the correct game before entering events.
  • Pause if something looks wrong. Refresh and verify before continuing if the score, game, or roster looks off.
  • Use the game-state buttons consistently. Quarter and final state changes are part of what spectators rely on.
  • Do not share scorer access broadly. Keep the scorer password with designated scorers only.

Fast Troubleshooting

If it is working

You should see the correct game card, cap color, live score controls, and an updated score as events are entered.

If something looks off

  • Refresh the app
  • Re-open the correct game
  • Check scorer mode is still unlocked

If something breaks

Send: what you were trying to do, what happened instead, your device type, and a screenshot if possible.
